My dog pees with joy when he meets me from work
"My dog pees with joy when he meets me from work. The dog is big, soon to be two years old. I am away for 6-7 hours at a time, but we take long walks in the morning and play dynamically. I'm not upset, I just want competent commentary - whether it passes and how to act. But she is very active with joy like her brain is completely off and her tail is wagging the dog."
I had a dog when I was a kid, a small dog, like a mestizo dachshund. I don't remember how many years she lived, but I can tell you that until she died, she puddled when she met every member of the family. Now my sneakers are regularly "hosed down" by puppies I bring to class: if you bounce off, you're lucky.
This behavior should not be considered a bad habit, illness, or a sign of bad manners. The possibility of its appearance is determined by genes, the cause is the temperament. Dogs experience everything sincerely, as they say, "on the naked nerve", and especially emotional at a strong excitement is not always possible to keep control over the sphincters. Something similar happens to a person when he is seriously frightened.
In general, urination during an encounter can be said to be normal. In some dogs, it passes with age, in others it does not. Some experts advise more restrained behavior upon encounter, but such a strategy, in my opinion, does not guarantee success. Some dogs at an advanced age and with very reticent owners do not hesitate to pee when they meet.
Remember, as in "The Beasts": "It's just such a strong love." What can you do?
